I’m not letting this pandemic slow me down. In fact, I have wonderful and exciting things coming your way in the near future. Not only will book three of the Roanfire Saga be released in the next few months, but the entire series is getting updated covers! They look fantastic. The typography really makes it. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.

I’ve been working on new posters, character stickers, bookmarks, pins, candles… you name it for the Roanfire Saga! There will be so many fun things to see. And who doesn’t want some free goodies leading up to the big event?

Check out The Phoenix Host and The Leviathan Prince, books one and two of The Roanfire Saga. See what adventures await.

With high-stakes action, cunning pirates, forbidden attraction, and a truly ruthless villain, The Roanfire Saga is an unforgettable tale of heroism, love, and self-sacrifice.

Exciting Announcement!

I hope that my making this public, I will be more focused and driven to complete book three of the Roanfire Saga. As of September of last year, my goal has been to release book three by September 2020! It’s been rough trying to find time to write. Since the schools have shut down due to COVID-19, I have suddenly become a home-school mom. Most of the day is spent coaching three little boys through their assignments.

But with the help of my husband, I have made good progress.

In addition, I have an exciting announcement! Along with the release of book three, The Glacial Rogue, I will be releasing new covers for all of my books! They are absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to share them with you. Keep an eye out over the next few months as we get ready for the big launch!

COVID 19: 2 free books to get you through!

Life as we know it has been put on pause. Schools have closed, we are working from home, activities and sports have been canceled.

April is usually a time I look forward to, because my husband will take time off work for our birthdays. We ship the kids off to grandparents and do something special. In the past we’ve gone hiking and camping, or to dinner and a movie. One year we even went on a cruise!

All that has been put on hold. We will spend our birthdays this year at home, making history with the world. I feel for all the young people (and those young at heart) who are stuck at home. So many people are doing their part in helping the world get through the Covid-19 pandemic. Celebrities reading books to kids, businesses donating supplies and food, singing from balconies, young people shopping for the elderly, kids interacting with quarantined people through glass windows. It’s such an inspiring time.

My little contribution can’t compare, but I thought “Writing is my escape. Maybe my books will offer some escape for others.” So, THE PHOENIX HOST and THE LEVIATHAN PRINCE e-books will be free on Kindle, April 7th through the 11th, 2020.

The Phoenix Stone was enchanted for a queen, corrupted by greed, and inherited by a warrior.

Raised by a legendary swordsman, Keatep Brendagger is one of Roanfire’s most promising soldiers. Brave, loyal, and a bit headstrong, she is the practical choice to escort a noblewoman to the capitol of Roanfire for the prince’s coronation.

When a repeating nightmare infests her sleep, leaving her with bloody noses and fire burning in her bones, she loses focus. With her career as a soldier in jeopardy, the Leviathan Pirates attack her home, and she’s framed for murder.

Hunted, betrayed, and reviled by her own people, Kea comes face to face with the source of her nightmares – the Phoenix Stone. It is a curse far greater than she could have imagined, one that would leave the whole of Roanfire in ashes and her dead, if she does not find the courage to resist.

The Phoenix Host and The Leviathan Prince are the first two books in The Roanfire Saga, a Young Adult fantasy series meant for anyone 12 and up!

Stay home! Stay Safe! Stay healthy!

(P.S.: Those of you awaiting book three… GOOD NEWS! I’ve been getting a LOT of writing done! My editor will be going over the book very soon!)

Update on Book Three

As many of you know, last month, November, was National Writers month and a time that many authors, screenwriters, and other wordsmithing artists participate in NanoWrimo. The goal? To write 50,000 words by the end of the month.

This was my first year participating – and I hate to admit it, but I failed miserably. Out of 50,000 words, I barely managed a little over 13,000 in book four. The reason? I could go into a lengthy list of excuses. My kids. My husband. My health. The house. The holidays. But if I were to be honest with myself, it was pure procrastination.

“Let me just finish this project real quick. Ooooh, a new Netflix show. It’s only 40 min long. I can spare that. Maybe I should to eat first. The kids are playing too loud. As soon as I sit down to write they’ll start fighting anyway. Better not aggravate my creativity.”

All these excuses have really held me back.

BUT I have managed to finish book three of the Roanfire Saga… I think. There is something about the ending that isn’t sitting right with me. I’ve had two Alpha readers go over the manuscript. Both of them have said that it was really good, and the ending had a real heart-wrenching twist. I’m going to sit on it for a few more weeks to be sure that it is right. I’d rather make it right than rush it’s release.

Great news! I have finished the coverart! It is probably one of my favorite to date. But I’m not going to reveal the whole thing just yet.

Mead Community Days and Sugarbeet Festival

This was my second year participating in our local Community Day’s Festival. Last year I only had one book for sale, as I was working on the second. I was so touched by how well I was received as a local author.

This year I had two books! And I was even more humbled to have so many people give me their support. I even had a few returning customers that have been waiting for book two! It was such a wonderful feeling to have fans! It gave me the ‘drive’ again.

Pushing forward with Book three and loving it!

Local Author at Colorado Medieval Festival

I’m so excited to participate in this year’s Colorado Medieval Festival! This an event that I would gladly travel for, but it’s practically in my own back yard! There will be LIVE KNIGHT FIGHTS AND JOUSTING and so much more!

If you love knights and magic, my YA Medieval Fantasy books are for you! Summer reading anyone? You can purchase and get them signed directly from the author! How cool is that?

Not only will I have my books for sale, but posters (art by yours truly), one-of-a-kind sword bookmarks, and custom Leviathan Pirate temporary tattoos.

Look for the pretty lady in red! (Yes, I just called myself pretty. Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she?) Don’t miss out on seeing the one-of-a-kind Phoenix Soldier Uniform inspired by my novels!

I look forward to seeing you there!
