Someone recently asked me if I had intended on leaving book one at such a nail-biting cliffhanger. The answer was no. The truth was that the story just kept going. And it was getting far too long to be a single book. I didn’t see a better place to break it off then where I did… and yes, it’s a terrible ending. When I was in the process of editing my book and I read the last page, I literally turned to my husband and said: “Oh, I’m mean! My readers are going to hate me!” Seriously, I hate me!
So, I am actively working on releasing book two. My goal is to have it ready to go by December – hopefully available during the Holiday Season as it would make an excellent gift.
Should I manage to fail in that endeavor, my readers and fans can rest assured that it will be out early 2019!
The owner, a sweet woman named Rose, owns the little shop. As we were talking, she related her story to me about one of her sons. She said that he died of leukemia 11 years ago, but the name “Welcome to the Bookstore” was born from him. He used to shout “Welcome to the Bookstore” every time they would go visit Barnes and Noble. It was a piece of him.
I thought it was such an amazing story and I am very much looking forward to having my book signing and reading there at the end of the month.
It was not designed to be a curse. Her twisted greed turned it into one.
– Yotherna, the White Wardent
When dreams and nightmares leave one burning in agony upon waking, they cannot be ignored.
So it is for young Keatep Brendagger, one of Roanfire’s most promising soldiers. The first dream left her with questions. The second, with a bloody nose and fire in her bones. As the dream progressively worsens, she finds the nightmare is not a dream at all, but a curse. An ancient curse inadvertently created centuries ago by the first Queen of Roanfire. While on assignment to escort a noblewoman to the prince’s coronation, things go terribly awry. Kea is framed for the murder of the king, accused of witchcraft, and branded traitor for defending a sworn enemy.
Her will to fight wavers when the kingdom she swore to protect turns against her. Kea must find the courage to stand her ground or the Phoenix Stone will not only destroy her, but plunge all of Roanfire into a furnace of tyranny.
